I'm a first year PhD student at the University of Western Australia / International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research / iVEC.
My background is in computing, and my focus area of interest is in large scale distributed processing. Specifically for my PhD, I'm looking at interactive ultrascale visualisation as a use case for designing a system capable of low-latency data intensive applications running on HPC clusters. Lots of data, lots of machines. =)
As you might have guessed, I'm not an astronomer. However, I hope my involvement with ICRAR will help other students in regards to their astroinformatics work, and visualisation needs from a computing aspect.
In general, I get to be amazed at all the stellar work that the other students are doing... =)
