The AstroPhD Journal Club was created as an extension of the forum in order to encourage research discussion of papers. We are running the club through a new innovative tool called Journal Fire, which has been created with exactly this kind of group discussion in mind.
Our goals with the journal club are:
Share new and exciting papers with the astrophysics community
Generate discussion and interaction around literature
Provide a platform for users to ask questions about papers and their interpretation of specific sections and results
We have two discussion sections:
Paper Discussions: for bringing attention to new, interesting and high-impact papers as well as prompting discussions of these
Paper Q&A: for asking questions about specific papers and for offering assistance in understanding these papers
We encourage all members of AstroPhD to sign up (it's very easy!) and investigate this neat and useful tool! It's extremely simple to add papers from the ADS page using the JournalFire bookmark widget, and even simpler to comment on papers opened to discussion.
