Workshop on Phases of Late Stage Stellar Evolution, 5th-7th Dec 2011
The inaugural workshop of the Macquarie University Research Centre for Astronomy, Astrophysics and Astrophotonics will be held on MQ campus from December 5th-7th 2011.
Major topics: RGB & AGB stars, Post-AGB stars, Planetary Nebulae & their Central Stars, White Dwarfs, Wolf-Rayet stars, Supernovae & their Remnants, Pulsars.
Rationale: The idea is to bring together experts and researchers across these related areas of late stage stellar evolution and to explore their transitions and demarcations from one to another as a function of age, mass, metalicity and environment.
Confirmed invited speakers so far include: Martin Asplund, Martin Cohen, Paul Dobbie, Bryan Gaensler, Martin Guerrero, Michael Ireland, John Lattanzio, Orsola De Marco, Jeremy Mould, Lister-Staveley-Smith, Dennis Stello, Peter Wood, Albert Zijlstra
